AFC Ajax is a Dutch football club from Amsterdam, founded on 18 March 1900. It plays at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, a ground of about 55,800 places, and competes in the Eredivisie. Ajax have won the national championship more than thirty times, the KNVB Cup twenty times, the European Cup four times and the Champions League in 1995. It plays in red and white and is nicknamed de Godenzonen, the sons of the gods. Its academy, De Toekomst, is the model most European clubs copied.
