The Touring Club Italiano is the largest national tourist organisation in Italy. It was founded in Milan in 1894, at first as a club for cyclists, and grew into a membership association promoting travel within the country. It is best known for its maps, road atlases and guidebooks, among them the red guides to the Italian regions, and for its work on cultural heritage. Its head office is still in Milan.
