Coles is an Australian supermarket chain, part of Coles Group and headquartered in Melbourne. It was founded in 1914 by George Coles in the Melbourne suburb of Collingwood and now runs 846 supermarkets across the country, with over 120,000 employees and about 27 per cent of the Australian market. It belonged to Coles Myer, later Coles Group, until Wesfarmers bought the group in 2007, and it became a separate Coles Group again when Wesfarmers spun the business off in November 2018.
