Kroger is an American retail company with its head office in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was founded there in 1883 by Bernard Kroger and today runs supermarkets and multi department stores across the United States, directly and through its subsidiaries. Its shops come in several formats, from combination supermarkets and marketplace stores to warehouse style outlets. The company also has manufacturing plants, fuel centres, pharmacies and in store clinics, and about two thirds of its staff work under collective bargaining agreements.
