Wegmans is an American supermarket chain founded in Rochester, New York, on 30 January 1916 and still owned by the Wegman family through Wegman Enterprises. It started as the Rochester Fruit and Vegetable Company and took the family name in 1930. Its large stores carry bakery, delicatessen, dairy, meat, seafood, produce, organic and bulk foods, prepared meals, wine, beer and spirits, flowers, pet supplies and general merchandise. The chain trades in New York and other states in the northeast and mid Atlantic.
