Birmingham Legion FC is an American soccer club from Birmingham, Alabama, established in 2017 and playing its first professional season in 2019. It competes in the USL Championship, the second division of American soccer, and plays at Protective Stadium in the city centre. The club took over from the amateur Birmingham Hammers, whose supporters' group carried across to the new team. It plays in gold and black. Its name refers to the Roman goddess Vulcan and the iron industry that gave Birmingham its nickname, the Magic City.
