Borussia Dortmund, formally Ballspielverein Borussia 09 e.V. Dortmund, is a German football club founded on 19 December 1909 in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia. It plays in the Bundesliga and has won eight German championships, five DFB-Pokals and the Champions League in 1997. Home matches are at Signal Iduna Park, the largest stadium in Germany with 81,365 places, whose south stand holds close to 25,000 standing supporters and is known as the Yellow Wall. The club plays in black and yellow, is nicknamed die Schwarzgelben, and has one of the highest average attendances in world football.
