AFC Bournemouth is an English football club from Bournemouth in Dorset, founded in 1899. It plays at Dean Court, a ground of about 12,300 places and one of the smallest in the division, and competes in the Premier League. The club spent most of its history in the lower divisions and came close to going out of business in 2008 before rising four divisions to reach the top flight in 2015. It plays in red and black stripes and is nicknamed the Cherries. The AFC in its name was added so it would appear before Arsenal and Aston Villa in alphabetical lists.
