Dunnes Stores is an Irish retail chain with its head office on South Great George's Street in Dublin. Its shops combine a supermarket with departments for clothing and homewares. The company trades from 138 shops, of which 118 are in the Republic of Ireland, 15 in Northern Ireland and 5 in Spain. It is still wholly owned by the Dunne family: Ben Dunne opened the first shop in Cork in 1944 and the business has never been listed on the stock market.
