Oakland Roots SC is an American soccer club from Oakland, California, founded in 2018 and professional since 2019. It plays at the Oakland Coliseum and competes in the USL Championship, the second division of American soccer. The club is partly community owned and its backers include Marshawn Lynch and Billie Joe Armstrong. It plays in black and green. It was set up as a club rooted in the city at a time when Oakland was losing its other professional teams.
