The group behind it, Intersport International Corporation, handles purchasing and brand management for the member retailers and dates back to 1968. It is one of the largest sporting goods retailers in the world, with around 5,260 specialist stores in 40 countries. The shops sell clothing, footwear and equipment for a wide range of sports.
