Xiaomi is a Chinese technology company with its head office in Beijing, known for its smartphones, consumer electronics, software and, more recently, electric cars. It was founded in 2010 by Lei Jun with six associates and released its first phone in 2011, holding the largest share of the Chinese smartphone market by 2014. It is now the third largest smartphone seller in the world after Apple and Samsung, and its phones run its own HyperOS software. It is the youngest company on the Fortune Global 500 and is often called the Apple of China.
