CVS Pharmacy is an American retail pharmacy and drugstore chain. It was founded on 8 May 1963 in Lowell, Massachusetts, and its name comes from the original Consumer Value Stores. Its shops sell prescription medicines, over the counter remedies, personal care goods and everyday convenience items, and most of them have a pharmacy counter at the back. The chain is part of CVS Health, is headquartered in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, and has around 203,000 employees.
