Harrods is a luxury department store on Brompton Road in Knightsbridge, London. The present building was designed by C. W. Stephens for Charles Digby Harrod and opened in 1905, replacing the first shop on the site, founded by his father Charles Henry Harrod in 1849 and destroyed by fire in 1881. It is the largest department store in Europe and draws some 15 million visitors a year, and the building has been Grade II* listed since 1969. The store is owned by the Qatar Investment Authority.
