Australia Post, formally the Australian Postal Corporation and also known as AusPost, is the government owned corporation that provides postal services throughout Australia. Its head office is on Swan Street in Richmond, Victoria. It is the successor of the Postmaster-General's Department, set up at federation in 1901 to formalise the colonial postal services and abolished in 1975, when the Australian Postal Commission took over. The present name and corporate structure date from 1989.
