Kia is a South Korean car maker, headquartered in Seoul and part of the Hyundai Motor Group. The company was founded in 1944 and started out making steel tubing and bicycle parts before moving on to motorcycles, trucks and cars. Hyundai took a controlling stake in 1998, and the two brands have shared platforms and technology ever since. Kia sells hatchbacks, saloons, estates, SUVs and electric models, and builds cars in Korea, Europe, the United States and elsewhere.
