Coop is a Swiss retail group organised as a co-operative, Coop Genossenschaft, and owned by its members rather than by outside shareholders. Together with Migros it is one of the two largest retailers in Switzerland, and its head office is in Basel. Besides supermarkets it runs the Coop City department stores, among them the branch on Bellevue square in Zürich, and specialist formats such as its building and hobby markets. The group also has wholesale and food production businesses.
