Gold's Gym is an American chain of fitness centres, founded by Joe Gold in Venice Beach, California, in 1965. The original gym became known as the mecca of bodybuilding and appeared in the 1977 film Pumping Iron with Arnold Schwarzenegger, which turned the name into a worldwide brand. The chain now runs hundreds of locations across the United States and more than twenty other countries.
