IKEA is a Swedish furniture retailer, founded in 1943 by Ingvar Kamprad and known above all for flat pack furniture that customers assemble themselves. Its stores are large warehouses on the edge of town, with a marked route past room settings, a self service warehouse and a restaurant. The operational head office is in Älmhult in Sweden, home of IKEA of Sweden AB, with a further head office at IKEA Hubhult in Malmö. The name combines the founder's initials with those of the farm and village he grew up on, Elmtaryd and Agunnaryd.
