It was founded in 1998 by Chip Wilson as a seller of yoga pants and other yoga wear, and has since expanded into sportswear, lifestyle clothing, shoes, accessories and personal care products. The company runs 767 stores and also sells through its own website. Chip Wilson is still a substantial shareholder.
