The NRMA, the trading name of the National Roads and Motorists' Association, is an Australian mutual formed in 1920 and owned by its members. It provides roadside assistance, car batteries, motoring advice, international driving permits, car hire, travel accommodation and marine commuter services, and it campaigns for motorists and other road users. Its insurance arm was demutualised around 2000 and split off as NRMA Insurance, now part of Insurance Australia Group. The two companies are independent but share the brand name under an agreement.
