OfficeMax is an American office supplies retailer, founded in 1988 in Cleveland, Ohio. As an independent chain it grew into the third largest office supply retailer in the United States, selling stationery, paper, ink, furniture and office technology. It passed through several owners, belonging to Kmart between 1991 and 1995 and to Boise Cascade from 2003 to 2004. Following a merger in 2013 it is a brand and subsidiary of Office Depot. The name has also been used in Mexico, New Zealand and, until 2020, Australia.
