PetSmart is an American chain of pet stores, founded on 14 August 1986 in Phoenix, Arizona. Its shops sell food, toys, bedding and other supplies for dogs, cats and smaller pets, and also provide grooming, training, day care under the name Doggie Day Camp and boarding at PetsHotel. It is one of the largest specialist pet retailers in North America, with stores in the United States and Canada. The company has been privately held since 2015, by owners including BC Partners and Apollo Global Management.
