RC Lens is a French football club from Lens in the former coalfield of the Pas-de-Calais, founded in 1906. It plays at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis, a ground of 38,223 places, and competes in Ligue 1. The club won the French championship in 1998 and the Coupe de la Ligue in 1999. It plays in red and yellow and is nicknamed Les Sang et Or. Its ground holds almost as many people as the town has inhabitants.
