SEAT, in full Sociedad Española de Automóviles de Turismo, is a Spanish car manufacturer founded on 9 May 1950 and based in Martorell near Barcelona. It builds hatchbacks, saloons and sport utility vehicles sold across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Singapore. The company has belonged to the Volkswagen Group since 1986 and shares platforms and engines with it. Its sportier models were split off in 2018 under the separate Cupra marque.
