Singapore Airlines is the flag carrier of Singapore, with its hub at Changi Airport. It began on 1 May 1947 as Malayan Airways and took its present name in 1972, when the joint Malaysia-Singapore carrier was split between the two countries. It flies to destinations across Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa and the Americas, including some of the longest nonstop routes in the world, and is a member of Star Alliance. Its frequent flyer programme is called KrisFlyer.
