Søstrene Grene is a Danish family owned retail chain founded in Aarhus in 1973 by the married couple Inger Grene and Knud Cresten Vaupell Olsen. Its shops sell homeware, stationery, craft materials, decorations and gifts at low prices. The name is Danish for the Grene sisters, but the two sisters on the signs are invented and Grene is simply the family surname. The founders' children Mikkel and Cresten Grene took over as chief executive and creative director in 2012.
