UPS, formally United Parcel Service, is an American parcel delivery and logistics company with its head office in Atlanta, Georgia. It was founded in Seattle in 1907 as a messenger service and grew into one of the largest package carriers in the world, its brown vans and uniforms earning it the nickname Big Brown. Since 1988 it has flown its own freight through UPS Airlines, based in Louisville, Kentucky, which serves 815 destinations worldwide. The company also handles freight forwarding and contract logistics.
