Dairy Queen is an American fast food chain best known for its soft serve ice cream and frozen desserts. The first store opened on 22 June 1940 in Joliet, Illinois, and the business grew into a largely franchised network with thousands of outlets in the United States and abroad. Alongside desserts such as the Blizzard, many locations also serve burgers, chicken and other quick service food. The chain has been owned by Berkshire Hathaway since 1998 and is often shortened to DQ.
