Payless is an American footwear retailer that sells low priced shoes in a self service format, founded in 1956 in Topeka, Kansas. The company grew into one of the largest shoe chains in North America before filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, after which its stores in the United States and Canada were liquidated. It is now headquartered in North Miami, Florida, and the name continues online and through stores outside those two countries.
