Ace Hardware is an American hardware retailers' cooperative based in Oak Brook, Illinois, founded in 1924. It is the largest non-grocery retail cooperative in the world: the stores are owned by the retailers themselves, who buy through the group and keep the Ace name and range. There are more than five thousand locations across the United States and in some seventy other countries, most of them neighbourhood-sized shops.
