MD S.p.A. is an Italian discount supermarket chain with its head office in Gricignano di Aversa, in the province of Caserta. Its shops follow the discount model: a limited range of goods, much of it own brand, sold at low prices in plainly fitted stores. The company employs more than 9,000 people and has branches throughout Italy, with its strongest presence in the south. It was built up by the entrepreneur Patrizio Podini.
