BP p.l.c. is a British multinational oil and gas company headquartered in London, England. It was founded on 14 April 1909 as the Anglo-Persian Oil Company and later took the shorter name it uses today. BP is one of the oil and gas supermajors and one of the world's largest companies measured by revenues and profits. Its activities run from exploration and production through refining to the filling stations that carry the green and yellow shield.
