GAIS, in full Göteborgs Atlet- och Idrottssällskap, is a Swedish football club from Gothenburg, founded in 1894 with the football section following in 1897. It plays at Gamla Ullevi, the city's shared municipal ground of about 18,400 places, and competes in Allsvenskan. The club has won four Swedish championships, the last of them in 1954, and is one of the three historic Gothenburg clubs alongside IFK Göteborg and Örgryte. It plays in green and black and is nicknamed Makrillarna, the Mackerels. Its support is rooted in the working-class districts east of the city centre.
