John Lewis & Partners is a British department store chain, the trading name of John Lewis plc. The business was founded in 1864 by John Lewis with a shop on Oxford Street in London, which is still its flagship. It is part of the John Lewis Partnership, set up in 1929 by Spedan Lewis, the founder's son, and held in trust for the employees, who are known as partners. The stores sell clothing, homeware, furniture and electrical goods.
