Which barcode types does ShowCards support?
QR, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC, Code 128, Code 39, PDF417 and Aztec. The scanner detects the format automatically, and you can always enter a card number manually.
Does ShowCards work without an internet connection?
Yes. All cards are stored on your device, so showing a card at the till works completely offline. Cloud sync simply catches up the next time you are online.
Where is my data stored?
On your device, and, if you enable sync, in your own private cloud: iCloud on iPhone, your Google account on Android. ShowCards has no account system, and your card numbers are encrypted on your device, so we can't read them.
What happens if I lose my phone?
With sync enabled, sign in on your new phone and your cards reappear automatically. You can also restore from an encrypted export file at any time.
Can I use ShowCards without a cloud account?
Yes. The app is fully usable without cloud sync, it just stays off, and you can rely on encrypted export files for backup instead.
Can I move my cards from another wallet app?
Yes. Scanning each card is fastest for a few, but to move a batch, screenshot your cards in the old app and use Import from screenshots: ShowCards reads the barcodes and matches the brands for you, and skips anything you already have.
Is ShowCards free?
ShowCards is free to download on the App Store and Google Play. It does not sell your data or build an advertising profile from your wallet. If we ever add optional paid features or card-level offers, we will say so clearly and update our privacy policy first.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone on iOS 17 or later, and Android phones and tablets. iPad works out of the box, and there are home-screen widgets plus Apple Watch and Wear OS apps on both platforms.
Can I share a loyalty card with someone else?
Yes. Open the card, tap Share and send the link however you like. It works even if the other person doesn't have ShowCards, they get a preview and a link to the app. Or, if they are next to you, choose Show QR code and let them scan it with ShowCards. The card is end-to-end encrypted inside the link and nothing is stored on our servers, but anyone who has the link can add the card, so share it like you'd share the card itself.
How do I move my wallet to a new phone?
Two ways. Sign in on the new phone with the same Apple or Google account and your cards sync down automatically, or use Transfer cards in Settings to send them straight across with a QR code, choosing whether to skip or replace any duplicates.
Can I add a widget to my home screen?
Yes. ShowCards has home-screen widgets on both iPhone and Android: a single Card, or a Cards grid of up to four. Add one from your home screen's widget gallery, choose which cards it shows (or leave it on Automatic), and tap it to open the card full-size for scanning.
Can I use ShowCards on my watch?
Yes. ShowCards has an Apple Watch app and a Wear OS app that install alongside the phone app. Your phone renders the barcodes and sends the images to the watch, so your cards are on your wrist even without your phone nearby, and no card numbers are stored on the watch.
Can I open a card with Siri?
On iPhone, yes. Say something like "Open my Albert Heijn card in ShowCards" and Siri opens that card ready to scan. Your cards also appear in Spotlight when you type their name on the home screen.
Can I change how my wallet looks?
Yes. View your cards as tiles or as a list, and use the size slider to fit anywhere from one large card to five per row. ShowCards remembers your choice.
How do I request a new feature?
Open Settings and choose Request a feature, then add a short title, a description and your email. It goes directly to the team that builds ShowCards, and we read every one.
