Most of its branches are in Lancashire, with others in Cheshire, Cumbria, North Yorkshire and West Yorkshire. The company is owned by the Booth family together with its staff, and it carries the name of the family that founded it. Sources including The Daily Telegraph have described the chain as the Waitrose of the North.
