About Cabela's

Cabela's is an American retailer of hunting, fishing, boating and camping gear and other outdoor recreation goods. It was started in 1961 by the brothers Richard and Jim Cabela in Chappell, Nebraska, and grew from a mail order catalogue business into a chain of very large stores. Since 2017 it has been a subsidiary of Bass Pro Shops of Springfield, Missouri. Its outlets are built as destinations in themselves, with wildlife displays and lodge style interiors that draw visitors as tourist attractions.
