Circle K Stores, Inc. is a convenience store chain founded in 1951 in El Paso, Texas. The company filed for bankruptcy protection in 1990 and passed through several owners before being bought in 2003 by the Canadian group Alimentation Couche-Tard, which is based in Laval, Quebec. As of February 2020 it had 9,799 stores in North America and 2,697 in Europe, with a further 2,380 outlets run under franchise worldwide. Many of its sites combine a shop with a fuel station.
