About Coop

Coop is a Hungarian supermarket chain and buying group founded in 1995. It has about 5,000 stores, most of them in villages and suburban towns rather than in city centres, which gives it one of the widest shop networks in the country. In 2015 it became the second largest retail chain in Hungary. As a buying group it brings together independent local retailers who purchase jointly and trade under the shared Coop name.
