About Danske Bank

Danske Bank A/S is a Danish multinational bank and financial services group with its head office in Copenhagen. It is the largest bank in Denmark and a major retail bank in northern Europe, with over five million retail customers. It was founded on 5 October 1871 as Den Danske Landmandsbank and was known for more than a century as Landmandsbanken, the Farmers' Bank. It took the name Den Danske Bank in 1976 and the present shorter name in 2000. Its largest shareholder, with 21 per cent, is the investment holding company of the Maersk family.
