Hannover 96 is a German football club from Hanover in Lower Saxony, founded on 12 April 1896. It plays at the Heinz von Heiden Arena, a ground of about 49,000 places, and competes in the German league. The club won the German championship in 1938 and 1954 and the DFB-Pokal in 1992 as a second-division side. It plays in red, black and green and is known as Die Roten. Its ground was rebuilt for the 2006 World Cup.
