About Hoyts

Hoyts is a cinema group in Australia and New Zealand. It was set up in Melbourne in 1908 by the dentist Arthur Russell, who began by showing films in a hired hall, and it later expanded into other states and changed hands several times. The Chinese conglomerate Wanda Group acquired the majority of Hoyts in 2015. The group owns 46 multiplexes with 412 screens, which makes it the second largest cinema operator in Australia after Event Cinemas, and it also runs Val Morgan, which sells advertising on cinema screens and digital billboards.
