About Iittala

Iittala is a Finnish design brand making tableware, cookware and design objects. It started as a glassworks in 1881 in the village of Iittala, and glass remains central to it through pieces such as the Aino Aalto glasses of 1932, Alvar Aalto's Savoy Vase of 1936 and Tapio Wirkkala's Ultima Thule glasses from 1968. Oiva Toikka's glass Birds have been made since 1962. The brand later added ceramics and metal, among them Kaj Franck's Teema tableware and Timo Sarpaneva's cast iron pot.
