About Kyoto Sanga

Kyoto Sanga FC is a Japanese football club from Kyoto, founded in 1922 as Kyoto Shiko Club and professional since 1994. It plays at Sanga Stadium by Kyocera in Kameoka, a ground of 21,600 places, and competes in the J1 League. The club won the Emperor's Cup in 2002. It plays in purple. Sanga comes from the Sanskrit sangha, meaning a community, a nod to the temples the city is known for.
