About Poundland

Poundland is a British variety store chain founded in 1990 by Dave Dodd and Steven Smith, which originally sold every item at the single price of one pound. It grew from a first shop in Burton upon Trent to its hundredth store in 2003, and sells groceries, household goods, DIY items and electrical products. From 2011 it expanded abroad under the Dealz name, first in Ireland and later in Poland, and it bought the rival 99p Stores in 2015. Steinhoff International acquired it in 2016 and later placed it in Pepco Group.
