Sam's Club is an American chain of membership only warehouse clubs and a subsidiary of Walmart. It was founded in 1983 in Midwest City, Oklahoma, as Sam's Wholesale Club and is named after the Walmart founder Sam Walton. It runs 602 warehouse clubs across 44 states and Puerto Rico, selling groceries, electronics and household goods in bulk, with filling stations and car washes at some sites. With about 90 billion dollars in sales it ranks second among warehouse clubs, behind Costco.
