Victoria's Secret is an American retailer of lingerie, clothing and beauty products. It was founded in 1977 by the Stanford graduate student Roy Raymond and his wife Gaye, who opened the first shop at the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, California. Les Wexner bought the five shop business in 1982 and expanded it rapidly through American shopping malls, reaching 350 stores and a billion dollars of sales by the early 1990s, when it became the largest lingerie retailer in the United States.
