About Village Cinemas

Village Cinemas is an Australian cinema chain showing mainly blockbusters and mainstream, children's and family films, alongside some arthouse, foreign language and documentary titles. It began in 1954 with a drive in theatre and was the founding business of the Village Roadshow group. Warner Bros held a third of the chain from 1988, and since 2003 the Australian sites have been part of Australian Theatres, a joint venture between Village Roadshow and Amalgamated Holdings. The brand also appears abroad under licence.
