Alongside the Hertz name the group runs Dollar Rent A Car, Thrifty Car Rental and Firefly Car Rental. It is one of the three big rental car groups in the United States with a 36 percent market share, ahead of Avis Budget Group and behind Enterprise Holdings. Hertz rents vehicles in 160 countries, and it filed for bankruptcy in May 2020 after the COVID-19 pandemic cut its bookings.
